More and more of us are thinking about setting up on our own to make these dreams a reality. And this is how the idea of the parent-cubator came about: bringing parents together, (with their under 5s welcome too) to share skills, encourage one another and learn from experts. Â Our latest groups have been supported through RBS Inspiring Women in Enterprise programme.
Our sessions are always fun, informative and motivating. Some recent highlights include an inspirational gallop through social media for businesses with Digital Mums; an eye-opening talk by Matthew Cain, an entrepreneur with a fascinating story to tell in Made to Fail and a run down on getting the legal aspects of your business right with Kay Vasey, commercial lawyer with Theobald Associates.
Some of the budding businesses involved so far include Kylie’s all over bibs for very messy eaters; Michelle’s Bloomsbury Boo monsters; Nancy’s life coaching notebooks, Angel’s film & animation agency and Anna’s family photography business. Even local celebrity, Lucy Porter came along while she was setting up ‘Screaming with Laughter’ a comedy clubs for parents of under 1s.
Have you got a business idea buzzing around in your head, or a problem you’d like to solve? Why not join our next Parent-cubator group, at the Belsize Park Community Library, which starts on Thursday 1 May at 10.30am. Children are welcome, and we’ll have a play worker on hand to help keep them happy while you get creative!
