We’re delighted to announce the launch of our second Parents’ Workspace, in Belsize Park Community Library NW3, on Mondays from 2-5pm, starting on 2 June. We also have a Parents’ Workspace every Friday at the Calthorpe Project, WC1. So what is a Workspace, and why should you give it a try?
The Parents Workspace is a co-working space: the phenomena that is sweeping the UK as a way to find support, inspiration and a value-for-money space to work if you are freelancing or setting up your own business.
There are over 150 co-working spaces around the country, and London boasts some of the best: The Camden Collective is just down the road, with a vision to put Camden at the heart of UK’s creative community. Impact Hub in Kings Cross supports 1000+ social business entrepreneurs. Google Campus has a wealth of resources for entrepreneurs, including co-working space.
But what is there for you if you want to breast feed your baby while you co-work, or be able to look after your toddler while you build your business?  How do get support, intellectual stimulation and resist the feelings of isolation that can develop when you are a new mum?
Bloomsbury Babies Parents’ Workspaces provide friendly, informal co-working environments, with either a creche or play workers in the same location. Â There is free wi-fi, access to office equipment, lap top hire and complimentary refreshments.
They are incredibly good value (just £5 per hour) thanks to the support of Camden’s Innovation and Development Fund, and The Winch’s Early Years Initiative. If you are looking for work or in receipt of benefits, you can even get a free standby place 24 hours in advance or on the day.
If you are setting up your own business, the workspaces provide the ideal location to network with like minded mums and dads. You can also join up to our highly rated parent-cubator groups, which are now enrolling for autumn.
If you need a little pampering as part of your ‘me’ time, Eva our fully qualified beauty therapist can give you an Indian head massage at your desk for just £10.
Over 30 mums and dads have already used the co-working space at the Calthorpe Project, and the feedback about it has been overwhelmingly positive. So why not drop in there, or our new space in Belsize Park Community library and see for yourself?
If you are based in West London you can also try the award winning Third Door in Putney which is the UK’s first full time co-working space with day care on site.
